Central Ohio Nurses continuing education opportunity

Independent-study CE activities are available for nurses through our Give an Hour, Get an Hour program.

The continuing nursing education activity was approved by the Ohio Nurses Association (OBN-001-91), an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

A variety of CE modules have been developed for RNs and LPNs who wish to learn about the blood donation process and other blood-related topics:

• The Blood Donation Process: From Qualified Donor to Patient
  (This independent study expires June 12, 2010)

• The Nurse’s Role in Raising Awareness for the Need for Blood
  (This independent study expires January 5, 2011)

• A School Nurse's Guide on Minimizing Donor Complications at High School Blood Drives
  (This independent study expires April 8, 2010)

• The Special Services Offered by the American Red Cross Immunohematology Reference Laboratory and its Partnership with the American Rare Donor Program
  (This independent study expires May 21, 2011)

• An Introduction to Patient and Cell Saver Services - Promoting Optimal Use of Blood Products and Patient Care
  (This independent study expires September 29, 2011)

When you register to donate, please ask a Red Cross staff member or volunteer for a self-study module.You can complete it at the donation site and return it to the staff member, or feel free take it home to complete and mail in at your leisure.
