Primary Therapeutic Registered Nurse (Grade 10 Non-Exempt) Provide therapeutic aphaeresis services under the direction of an attending physician in a hospital or outpatient setting. These therapeutic apheresis services shall include but not be limited to: Plasma Exchange, Red Blood Cell Exchange, Platelet Reduction, and White Blood Cell Reduction. Services also include Product Collection using an automated system. Complies with safety policies and procedures in the work area and uses applicable protective equipment at all times to prevent exposure to potentially infectious blood and body fluids. Works independently with attention to detail and possesses full knowledge of all aspects of daily operations and disease process. Major Responsibilities: Knowledge of blood collection and reinfusion of compatible replacement fluids and/or blood components; Before performance of apheresis services, consult with patient’s attending physician to determine the medical necessity, type and frequency of the requested procedure, and to schedule a time or times, and place to perform requested apheresis procedures; Ensure these request for apheresis services are approved by an American Red Cross Physician; Obtain written informed consent from the patient (or responsible guardian or parent) prior to beginning the series of apheresis procedures and place the consent form in the patient's chart; Maintain patient confidentiality; Knowledge of phlebotomy and central lines and their care; Monitor patient and report any progress and/or complications to the patients attending physician and keep ARC physician informed; Upon the completion of each apheresis procedure, document and place on the patient’s chart a record of apheresis services performed including replacement solutions administered, fluid balance, medications given, adverse reactions if any, vital signs and type of venous access used; Shall be responsible for equipment, supplies, and disposable for the performance of apheresis procedures. Maintain proper equipment maintenance (weekly QC, preventative maintenance, or corrective maintenance) and documentation (Maximo and QC forms); Able to educate the patient, family, and other attending health care professionals on the procedure and its benefit to the patient's disease process.

Collections Technician II (Grade 4) Full-Time (7 Openings)- Conduct health history interviews, and provides donor care during the collection of blood units.  Demonstrate excellence in customer service and public relations to promote a positive, professional image of the American Red Cross Biomedical Services.  Work independently with attention to detail and full knowledge of all aspects of the daily collection operation.  Perform all phases of blood collection (may include allogeneic, directed, plasma, pheresis, apheresis, stem cell, autologous) and donor care according to BSDs, ARCBS directives, the Code of Federal Regulations and local policies and procedures to ensure safe product and optimum donor experience.  Recruit donors for future donations.  High school diploma or equivalent required.  Medical assistant or phlebotomy training, documented satisfactory performance as Collections Technician I, or the equivalent experience is required.  Customer service experience, effective verbal communication, and public relations skills are preferred.  A current valid driver's license and good driving record is required.

Technical Assistant II (Grade 4) Full-Time (1 Openings) - Manufacture, process, label, store and perform quality control on blood products including, but not limited to, whole blood platelets, plasma, red blood cells, non-standard blood products and saline washed red blood cells and frozen and deglycerolized red cells.  Meet the quality and quantity production goals established by the department.  May perform sample tube management.  Operate, maintain and perform quality control and/or validation on laboratory equipment.  Ensure adequate inventory of required supplies.  Minimum one year of college studies or technical training in science or medical technology or the equivalent is preferred.

Telerecruiter (Grade 2) Part-Time not benefit eligible (1 Openings)- Recruit prospective blood donors from a variety of sources by phoning individuals, groups, organizations, businesses, churches and schools.  Contact previous, special, apheresis or whole blood donors to increase the frequency of donations and increase the number of donors at fixed sites or mobile unit blood drives to meet the collections goals.  Positively impact the quality of service to donors and groups, increasing the availability of blood products.  Coordinate reminder calls, follow-up, logging of data, maintenance of records and special projects to achieve established goals.  High school diploma or equivalent required.  Minimum one year of telephone and customer service or telemarketing experience is preferred.  Computer experience, excellent customer service and problem-solving skills required.  Effective verbal communication skills, the ability to work with potentially difficult customers, and work in a fast paced environment is required.

Assistant Collections (Grade 1) Full-Time (1 Opening)- Provide support to the collection staff by performing set-up activities, registration, pre-check, packing, sealing, temperatures, reaction care, discontinuing blood collections or escorting and labeling on donors at blood collections.  Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures, Safety Quality Identity Potency Purity (SQUIPP), regulations outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other applicable Federal, state and local regulations.  POSITION ADDENDUM Ninety Day Temporary Job Duties  Approximately 8 hours per week minimum (possibly more depending on work load and availability), assisting the Fixed Sites of the American Red Cross Blood Services Central Ohio Region with various communications, public relations, and recruitment needs.  This will include, but not be limited to identifying, developing and implementing creative strategies to attract potential fixed site blood drive sponsors and feeder groups for existing drives or donors for special collection programs deemed necessary at the donation stations. Develop a working knowledge of the community we serve, the demographics and organizations.  Apply that knowledge to all aspects of servicing the fixed sites through expansion of the program.

Laboratory Technologist II (Grade 8) FT- Shift Thursday – Monday 1pm to 9pm (2 Openings) Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: performing and testing on blood products and maintenance of related equipment; performing high complexity manufacturing procedures; consulting and communicating with hospital transfusion facility staff and National Headquarters staff when necessary to resolve problems; participating in validation of hardware, software, instrumentation, test kits, and procedures;  assuming supervisory functions such as record review, ordering supplies, and training.  Two years of laboratory experience preferred.  Bachelor’s degree in Science preferred.  Staff who are career pathing are encouraged apply.

Donor Recruitment Representative (Grade 7) Full-Time (2 Openings) – NW and Marketing  Develop strategies for attracting and retaining bloodmobile sponsors.  Provide continual support to donor group sponsors, including training.  Coordinate activities with personnel to ensure a positive donor experience and smooth, efficient operations.  Bachelor’s degree in marketing/sales, communications or equivalent job experience required.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.  Two years related experience with direct sales required.

Hospital Services Courier (Grade 2) Full-Time - Shift Available: Monday- Friday 6:00am to 2:00pm,  Provide for the delivery and return of blood products and materials to internal and external customers.  Prepare for deliveries by verifying orders, loading vehicles and maintaining route supply inventory to ensure prompt delivery of products to customers.  High school diploma or equivalent preferred.  No minimum work experience required.  Previous experience with a messenger service or trucking company desired.  Must have valid driver’s license.

Mobile Unit Assistant II – CDL and Non-CDL (Grade 4) FT - Drive a variety of vehicles to transport required supplies, equipment, blood products and samples, as well as staff when needed, to and from mobile sites in a safe and legal manner.  Manage temporary storage and packing of whole blood and sample tubes at collection site to assure the safety of the blood product. Operate vehicles in a safe manner in compliance with DOT Regulations. Load and unload vehicles. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Current CDL (CDL position only) Ohio driver’s license and good driving record is required.  Effective verbal communication and public relations skills are required.
