Do you bleed scarlet and gray?

Come to donate blood and enter to win OSU-Michigan game tickets!

October 2009

COLUMBUS – This football season, you can roll up your sleeve to show your school spirit, and earn a chance to win a pair of free tickets to the Ohio State vs. Michigan football game.

Giving blood is an easy way to be a hero to patients in need.  Every two seconds someone in America needs a blood transfusion.  When you come to give from Oct. 1 through Nov. 15, you can enter to win a pair of tickets to the Ohio State vs. Michigan football game on Nov. 21 in Ann Arbor, MI.

This is the fourth year that a pair of Ohio State – Michigan game tickets has been awarded to a Red Cross blood donor in the fall.  In November 2008 regular blood donor Gary Pendergrass won the pair of football game tickets for his donation made in Urbana, Ohio.  A hospital stay in his past made him realize how important blood donors are, and he made a commitment to giving regularly.  In 2007 the winner was Sam Junk of Chillicothe, Ohio, who donates to share his good health with others.  Donor Robert Bershock of Shelby, Ohio won in 2006.

Whatever your reason for giving blood, you could win your own spot in Ann Arbor to cheer on the Buckeyes in person for giving blood.

OSU social work student Amanda Hull knows the need for blood personally.  She was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, a form of cancer, when she was younger.  After numerous blood product transfusions through various stages of treatments over several years, Amanda is cancer free today.  Her treatment would not have been possible without generous volunteer blood donors.  “I wouldn’t be here today without the availability of blood products from blood donors,” she said.

The winner of the game tickets will be selected through an impartial drawing on Monday, Nov. 16, and the winner will be notified.  The real winners will be the countless patients, like Amanda, who benefit from receiving the donated blood.
