Learn more about the American Red Crosss

Can't donate blood, or just want to do more? There are plenty of other ways to help the Red Cross in the lifesaving mission of the blood program.

Volunteering

Volunteers make up 97 percent of the American Red Cross staff across the nation. A team of about 500 volunteers in Franklin County make it possible for the Central Ohio Blood Services Region to keep serving the community.

Reception
Volunteers welcome and sign-in donors, answer questions and provide excellent customer service. These volunteers often have the greatest impact on donors because they are the first to meet and greet them.

Donor Diner
These volunteers also are vital to our donor's overall donation experience. Volunteers monitor donors for reaction signs and encourage them to donate again. In addition, volunteers serve refreshments and promote a positive, long-lasting impression of the American Red Cross.

Clerical volunteerBlood Transportation
Volunteers provide a critical service by transporting blood from area blood drives to the regional headquarters in Columbus. Patients in central Ohio rely on these volunteers for their dedication and commitment.

Office/Clerical Support
Volunteer telerecruiters, special event coordinators, and data entry support help facilitate the operations of the region's approximately 25 daily blood drives.

When you join the Red Cross volunteer team, you are joining a diverse group of individuals who have come together with the common goal of helping those in need.

Sponsor a blood drive

Provide your employees/members a convenient opportunity to serve the community. Boost morale at your business and rally employees around a worthwhile cause. And you can help ensure potentially lifesaving blood products are there for everyone in your community when needed.
